Ventura Victorious at Artugna Race in Italy

Quaddy Racing's Amerigo Ventura and co-driver Miko Brun got their 2022 season off to the perfect start by winning the T4 class at the 12th Italian Baja di Primavera in their YXZ1000R fitted with the GYTR Racing Kit.

The first round of the 2022 YXZ1000R Italy Cup, the Artugna Race, was held during the opening event of the Italian Cross Country Rally Championship in Pordenone, the spiritual home of Baja racing in Northern Italy. The race took place on Saturday, March 12th and consisted of four timed stages, covering over 300km of fast, dusty, dirt roads designed to put man and machine to the test.

The Quaddy Racing YXZ1000R, fitted with the dedicated GYTR Racing Kit that upgrades the standard version to meet FIA T4 safety regulations, dominated proceedings during the race but had to battle through adversity to emerge as winners. After leading the first stage, a bent steering rod during stage two saw their advantage wiped out, but Ventura and Brun drove flawlessly during the final two stages to win by 33 seconds and secure the SSV and Overall victories.

The Quaddy Racing team used the race as a shakedown ahead of their participation in the FIA Cross Country Baja European Championship as an official Yamaha supported team in 2022, with the first round - the Baja Dehesa Extremadura in Spain - scheduled for April 29th - May 1st.

“This race was critical for us because as well as being the opening round of the Italian Cross Country Rally Championship, it was the first real test of our new YXZ1000R that we will race in the European FIA Cross Country Baja Championship. I don’t think we could have asked for a better start. The machine worked perfectly, and we pushed to the absolute limit for all four stages. Maybe we even went a little over the limit because we bent a steering rod during the second stage, eliminating the lead we had established over our rivals. After some brilliant quick repair work from our team, we were determined to show our potential. During the two remaining special stages, we drove flawlessly without making any mistakes and managed to take home the victory. I want to thank my Quaddy Racing team for preparing our YXZ perfectly and also Yamaha for supporting us in this ambitious project.”
