Yamaha launches the YXZ1000R European Cup

Yamaha Motor Europe is proud to launch the YXZ1000R European Cup in 2019, a project designed to inspire and support customers to race Yamaha's sports Side-by-Side.

The YXZ1000R Cup is a mono brand racing community inside multiple championships around Europe. The Cup takes place in seven countries: Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain and Israel, with each national Cup featuring a minimum of three races.

For more information on the YXZ1000R Cup activities, please visit Yamaha-Racing.comTwo categories are available for competitors to enter: Stock and Open, the category entry depending on the degree of preparation of the vehicles. Both pilots and co-pilots must be over 18 years of age with a national federation license to enter.

The top scoring racers in the Stock and Open categories from each national Cup qualify and are entitled to a free entry for a unique SuperFinale event to be held during the Baja Portalegre in Portugal, 24 - 26 October 2019.

The winners of the SuperFinale first places will win a brand new YXZ1000R in Stock category and a free registration to the Dakar Series Merzouga Rally in April 2020. Other interesting prizes will also be available to win in the SuperFinale.

Eric de Seynes

President, Chief Executive Officer of Yamaha Motor Europe - Executive Officer of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.

Yamaha as a company has always been very involved in motorsport, and competition in general, not only by gaining victories with its official Factory teams but also by giving the opportunity to amateur racers to access the different disciplines of the sport. This is the reason why the various Yamaha Cups and Trophies have been developed  - i.e. Coupe RDLC, Trophy YZF, YZ125, YZF-R3 - and have always had a great impact.

Having started to compete in 2017 with the YXZ1000R Side-by-Side, we felt it was the appropriate time to move forward and share the acquired experience with as many drivers as possible. We aim to ensure that the entire package we offer is the most competitive possible, in terms of cost as well as in terms of the proven reliability of our machine.

I sincerely believe that the YXZ1000R European Cup will give the opportunity to the FIA and FIM to welcome new racers, keen to discover the spirit and excitement of competition thanks to this new challenge.

Racing is in Yamaha's DNA, it is a force to be reckoned with at the highest levels of motorsport, but it must be also able to give opportunities to the greatest number. The Yamaha YXZ1000R European Cup was created to meet this expectation. We wanted racing to be as accessible as possible, with a Stock category at an entry level, and for the most experienced, an Open category, offering greater freedom of preparation. Seven countries will host Yamaha YXZ1000R national Cups, and the winners will all meet at the SuperFinale in Portugal from the 24th to the 26th of October.

My ten Dakar Rallies riding a quad and driving a YXZ1000R have allowed me to understand several facets of this specific sport. Today I am putting this experience at the service of the Yamaha YXZ1000R European Cup, sharing my passion with fellow racers.

See you this season at the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup races. I expect you there!
