Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team Inspired for the Future
Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team’s Jayson van Drunen was 1-point short of a top-ten finish at the EMX65 Final in Loket, Czech Republic. He was 11th overall, while the teams twin sensations Sacha and Lucas Coenen leave motivated to build on their experience at the EMX85 Final, where they finished 18th and 20th respectively.
The Coenen brothers arrived at the hilly, clay venue of Loket eager to showcase their ability on the world stage. Both riders showed glimpses of what they are capable of with some impressive cornering and stylish jumping but were let down by their starts and a few costly mistakes.
Sacha placed 12th in the opening EMX85 race, while Lucas was frustrated by a poor start that left him battling forward from last position and up into 21st.
Determined to significantly improve their results from Race 1, the young duo pushed hard at the start of the second and final race. Sacha had a decent start but fell on Lap 2, while Lucas got off to a mid-pack start and got stuck in a battle for 14th position, which is where he placed at the flag. Sacha managed to fight his way back into the points. He finished 19th.
In the EMX65 class, Jayson van Drunen impressed with his speed and style on the revolutionary YZ65. As a wildcard entry, the 11-year-old Dutchman arrived with no expectation, only determination to do well on a Grand Prix spec circuit. Despite making a couple of small mistakes, the talented youngster did well to power his YZ65 to two 14th place finishes which almost placed him inside the top-10 in the overall classification.
